Cookie Policy
Last updated: March 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how the Fleet & Miles website uses cookies and similar technologies, and how you can control them.
Nothing beyond the cookies needed to run the site is set before you tell us it is allowed. Until you accept analytics cookies, no measurement code is downloaded and no request is made to Google.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work, to remember preferences, and to understand how a site is used.
2. Categories we use
- Strictly necessary — required for the website to function, including security, form submission protection, and remembering your cookie choice. These cannot be switched off.
- Analytics — Google Analytics 4, which tells us which pages help and which campaigns bring people here. Only set after you accept.
- Marketing — allows Google to measure whether an advert led to an enquiry. Only set after you accept, and currently only used for conversion measurement rather than profiling.
3. The cookies in detail
The table below lists every cookie this website can set, who sets it, and how long it lasts.
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Expires | Category |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| fm_consent | Fleet & Miles | Stores which cookie categories you accepted or declined. | 6 months | Strictly necessary |
| _ga | Google Analytics | Distinguishes one visitor from another so visits can be counted. | 2 years | Analytics |
| _ga_* | Google Analytics | Keeps track of the current session for the measurement property. | 2 years | Analytics |
| fm_attribution | Fleet & Miles | Remembers the campaign, search or referring site you first arrived from, so an enquiry can be credited to it. | 90 days | Analytics |
4. Google Analytics and consent
We use Google Analytics 4 with Google Consent Mode. Every storage permission starts in a denied state, IP addresses are truncated before processing, and the analytics script itself is only requested once you have accepted. If you decline, or simply ignore the banner, the script is never loaded.
Google acts as our processor for this data and may transfer it outside the European Economic Area under Standard Contractual Clauses. We do not use Google Analytics to identify you personally, and we do not combine it with the details you submit through our forms beyond recording which campaign an enquiry came from.
5. How we credit enquiries
When you arrive from a search result, an advert, a newsletter, or another website, we note that origin so we can tell which of our efforts are worth continuing. Within a single visit this is held in memory only and nothing is stored on your device. If you accept analytics cookies, we also remember it for 90 days in the fm_attribution cookie so a later enquiry can still be credited correctly.
If you send us an enquiry, that origin is attached to your message in our internal system. It is never sold, shared for advertising, or used to build a profile.
6. Managing cookies
You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the button below. Withdrawing analytics consent also deletes the Google Analytics cookies already stored on this device. You can additionally delete or block cookies through your browser settings, though blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent parts of the website, including our forms, from working correctly.
7. Changes to this policy
We update this policy whenever our use of cookies changes. The date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
